Order of Malta Ukrainian Relief Service

The Order of Malta’s Ukrainian Relief Service runs a specialist therapeutic centre for disabled children with central nervous system damage in Beregovo, Western Ukraine. It supports 200 children aged up to 14 years old from the area, including internally displaced refugees. This individualised therapy approach is focused on each child’s personality and learning style, instead of a “one size fits all” approach. This combined with social, academic, psychological therapies improves not only the health outcomes of these vulnerable children, but also their ability to integrate into their local communities and lead a fuller life. Family counselling helps parents understand their children’s needs and how best to care for them at home. A donation of £10,000 from the Edinburgh Ball could fund the salary of four staff for six months, helping deliver over 1,125 treatments sessions and ensuring the continuation of this vital programme for disabled children who have suffered disproportionately from the crisis in Ukraine .

Order of Malta Dial a Journey Trust In Central Scotland

Order of Malta Dial a Journey Trust is a door-to-door transport service for people with mobility problems who cannot use conventional public transport. The service provides affordable and accessible transport for residents of the Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire areas. As a charitable company, Dial-a-journey relies heavily on donations and many of their services would not be possible without the support of the Order of Malta Scotland Ball. The wide range of services that it provides, gives thousands of people each year access to transportation that would not otherwise be available, allowing them to have the independent to visit family, go to the shops and maintain their daily lives with a sense of freedom.
